Founded in 2019 by a compassionate pastor with a vision to transform lives, Shekhinah Orphanage is a faith-based charity organization dedicated to providing vulnerable orphans in Uganda with love, hope, and a brighter future. Inspired by the belief that every child deserves safety, education, and dignity, our founder set out to create a haven where abandoned and disadvantaged children could find not just shelter, but a true home. Over the years, we have grown from a small initiative into a beacon of hope, establishing loving homes in Mbale, Kampala, and other regions of Uganda, where children receive holistic care—nutritious meals, quality education, healthcare, and emotional support.
At Shekhinah Orphanage, we believe that empowering orphans today builds a stronger society tomorrow. Our programs go beyond basic needs—we nurture talents, instill moral values, and provide vocational training to help these children grow into self-reliant, confident adults.

At Shekhinah Orphanage, we believe education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. We provide formal schooling, tutoring, and vocational training tailored to each child’s abilities and aspirations. Our dedicated teachers and partnerships with local schools ensure that every child—whether in primary, secondary, or skills-based programs—receives the tools to build a self-reliant future.
Healthy children can thrive. We provide routine medical check-ups, immunizations, and emergency care through partnerships with clinics and doctors. Mental health support, hygiene education, and HIV/AIDS prevention are also prioritized. By addressing health barriers early, we give children the strength to focus on their dreams.
Proper nutrition is the foundation of a child’s growth. Our daily meals are designed by nutritionists to combat malnutrition and support physical development. We prioritize locally sourced, balanced diets and teach healthy habits. For many children, these meals are their first experience with consistent, wholesome food.
Every child deserves a place to call home. Our residential facilities in Mbale, Kampala, and beyond offer more than just beds—they provide a nurturing family environment. With secure housing, caring houseparents, and spaces for play and study, we create a sanctuary where children heal from trauma and rediscover trust.
Abandonment leaves deep wounds. Our trained counselors and caregivers use trauma-informed approaches to help children process grief and build resilience. Through art therapy, support groups, and one-on-one sessions, we restore hope and self-worth. Love and patience guide every interaction, reminding each child they are valued.
Rooted in Christian values, we nurture faith as a source of strength. Daily devotions, Bible study, and mentorship help children develop moral compasses and inner peace. We respect each child’s journey, using scripture and prayer to teach forgiveness, purpose, and service—preparing them to become lights in their communities.
Since our founding in 2019, Shekhinah Orphanage has been a beacon of hope, transforming the lives of hundreds of vulnerable children across Uganda. Through our holistic programs—providing quality education, safe shelter, nutritious meals, healthcare, emotional support, and spiritual guidance—we have not only met immediate needs but also empowered children to break the cycle of poverty and dream boldly for their futures.
