Education for All: Building Shekhinah’s New Primary School Campus

In Uganda's rural communities, many orphaned children walk dangerous distances to overcrowded schools—until they inevitably drop out. Shekhinah is changing this narrative through our Hope Academy construction project. The new campus, slated to open in 2025, will feature eight solar-powered classrooms, a library, and Uganda's first trauma-sensitive school design (including quiet rooms for overwhelmed students). Located near our Bududa orphanage, it will serve 300 vulnerable children daily, with half of spaces reserved for community orphans living with relatives.

The impact extends beyond academics. The site will include a vocational training center where older students learn practical skills like carpentry, tailoring, and sustainable farming—creating a pathway to employment. Current student David, 14, who currently studies under a mango tree, shared: "Last rainy season, my notebook turned to pulp. When I see the concrete floors in the new school, I know my dreams won't wash away anymore." The construction itself employs 35 local workers, injecting vital income into the community while fostering ownership of the project.

Local churches are "adopting" classrooms—their members' names will grace dedication plaques as a testament to communal love. As our founder often says: "We're not just building classrooms; we're building the future leaders who will reconstruct Uganda."
